Hello!
I’m Michael Iorio and I am a Headshot & Portrait photographer based out of central New Jersey. I started Michael Iorio Photography in 2019 as I discovered I had a passion for taking photographs of people.
In addition to my businesses services, I am also a freelance fashion & editorial photographer.
On a professional level
Throughout my career i have worked with different people from different walks of life. Some of my clients include corporate executives, entertainers, professional models, and everyday family and hard working people. I started my business shortly after I discovered I loved taking photographs of people. During the Covid pandemic things had slowed down and I began shooting models to keep my artistic juices flowing which led to shooting fashion & editorials in Philly & NYC as a freelance photographer as well. While today, most of time is working with agencies in NYC testing new models, I am still very much involved in growing my business, while limiting the number and types of jobs I take on to those that inspire me and fit my busy schedule.
Personally
I grew up an athlete & an artist. As a young boy, I loved playing baseball and drawing. My summers were mostly spent playing ball and at art camps. Most of my younger years were spent with my grandmothers, who both encouraged me to draw. This progressed through high school as I would always take as many art classes as the schools would allow. However after high school I would join the workforce as most people would, married, had a beautiful daughter, and would continue that life for about 25 years or so. It wasn’t till about I reached about 40 that I would rediscover my passion for art through photography as a medium. After exploring landscape photography for a short time, I found I loved photographing people, as there is a certain connection & intimacy with working with individuals. Each photo is unique to that person and each interaction is unique in itself.
Today
Today you’ll usually find me in the studio, on location, or at thrift stores searching for clothing for modeling test shoots. In 2023 I photographed my fist Philadelphia fashion week at the Avant Garde Ball, and recently moved to central New Jersey as middle ground between Philly & New York, where I spend most of time shooting.
