Everything is not for everyone, and that’s ok. My name is Michael Iorio and I am a Philadelphia portrait photographer who specializes mainly in women’s portraits. I set up a table at different festivals and events with beautiful portraits of women I have photographed and I typically see two responses. Women who go Wow, and women who roll their eyes. Being alone in front of a camera can be a sense of vulnerability for some. But if you have the right photographer and a good photographer, it can be a liberating experience for some. There are some women out there who embrace their beauty, and it’s my job as a photographer to convey that beauty through my lens. I love photographing women, and it’s something I have a passion for. I’ve photographed women from all different walks of life and I can tell you, no matter where they come from, they get excited when they receive their photos regardless of whether or not this was their first time or their 50th time having them taken.

Opposite of the woman I mentioned earlier that wouldn’t consider having a women’s portrait shoot of themselves. Be an optimist and give it a try, you just may love the way you look in your photos. But I send a disclaimer with this, if you hire a bad photographer you may not try it again. The woman I photographed above are all mom’s and all have regular jobs like everyone else. They are woman just like you who took a chance at having someone create beautiful images of themselves. Shop around and find someone whos style you love. With my service, my clients pay just a sitting fee and then they can view the images after their photoshoot and decide if they want to buy any of them. If you’re new to this type of service, it really takes the pressure off you of getting locked in to spending a fortune before you even see your photos.
2. There are worse ways to spend a day
So your questioning getting a complete makeover with a professional hair and make-up artist and having your own personal professional photographer for the day like a super-model. I can think of worse things you can do with a day. A lot of good photographers will offer professional hair and make-up. You can make it a friends day out and invite a couple of your best friends. You can go your shoot then plan a night out while your all dressed up. You are not just buying photographs, you are investing in the experience. If you’re shy, bring some friends along and make it a group a shoot. I personally prefer when a client brings a friend or two because friends have a tendency to bring out a different side to each others expressions that photograph well.
3. You'll have beautiful art for your home
If you’re human, you have art hanging on your walls at home, some sort of bowl or statue on a shelf, etc. Remember a long time ago when people would hang up portraits of themselves in their homes ? Now we go to Home-goods and hang manufactured pieces on our walls. With beautiful portraits of yourself, you can celebrate your beauty as a piece of art. A beautiful album displayed on a shelf is also a great option. For my clients, I can work with them to colorize their wall portraits to match their homes décor. When your friends and family visit and see the incredible pieces of artwork hanging in your home, they’ll be the talk of the party. Having beautiful portraits of yourself in your home speaks elegance.
4. Feel good about yourself
There is no greater reward for me then when a client sees their photos for the first time and absolutely loves them. The emotion and happiness they have when I show them how beautiful their photographs are is everything to me. Try to visualize the feeling of seeing the most beautiful photographs you’ve ever seen of yourself. If you’ve picked the right photographer, you shouldn’t be disappointed. You also have a tangible piece of art to admire forever.
5. You're preserving your legacy
Do you have photos of yourself to hand down to future generations ? Maybe your a mom and your always behind the camera. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to hand down beautiful photographs of yourself. When you see older photographs of 2 or 3 generations ago. The people in those photos were dressed up, photographed by a professional.
